Uniform Policy

The Visitation BVM School uniform is worn by every student in grades PreK through 8 and should be worn with a sense of dignity.

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten

Visitation Gym Uniform to be worn daily; ankle length white socks; white sneakers.

Girls 1^st - 8^th Grades 

The winter uniform is permitted year-round, but must be worn November 1^st through April 14^th.  The summer uniform is optional and can be worn during a specified time period. 

Winter - 1st – 5th Grade - Only change is shoe 

• Plaid jumper (less than 3 inches above knee)
• Light blue blouse (long/short sleeve with peter-pan collar)
• Light blue turtleneck
• Navy blue cardigan sweater, ¼ zip sweater, ¼ zip sweatshirt, or full-zip fleece with school logo (optional item)
• Navy blue knee-high socks, solid navy tights, or Visitation branded leggings
• Black Mary Jane shoe, Buc Academy/Buc Hushpuppy Tuft, Sperry Boat Shoe from Flynn O’Hara (Sahara Tan) or Flocco’s (Sperry Songfish). 

Winter 6th – 8th Grade

• Plaid uniform skirt (less than 3 inches above knee)
• Light blue blouse (long/short sleeve with button-down oxford collar)
• Navy blue ¼ zip sweater, ¼ zip sweatshirt, V-neck sweater vest, or full-zip fleece with school logo. Navy blue v-neck sweater will be eliminated.
• Navy blue solid tights or Visitation branded navy leggings
• Buc Academy/Buc Hushpuppy Tuft, Brown Oxford Tie Shoe, or Sperry Boat Shoe from Flynn O’Hara (Sahara Tan) or Flocco’s (Sperry Bluefish).

Summer 1st – 5th Grades*

• Navy blue skort-no belt (less than 3 inches above knee)
• Navy blue shorts w/ belt (less than 3 inches above knee)
• Navy or light blue banded polo shirt with school logo (long or short sleeves)
• Ankle length socks (solid white or navy)
• All-white sneaker (must be all white)

Summer 6th – 8th Grades*

• Plaid uniform skirt (less than 3 inches above knee)
• Navy, or light blue banded polo shirt with school logo (long or short sleeves)

Gym Uniform - Boys and Girls

PK-8 

• Navy sweatpants or navy shorts with school logo
• Light blue tee-shirt with school logo (long or short sleeved). 
• Ankle length white socks or school logo socks
• Optional items: navy Sweatshirt, crew or ¼ zip with school logo
  • No hoodies or other branded sweatshirts, etc., are allowed.
• Sneakers (no light-up shoes)
• No jewelry may be worn on PE days.
• Gym uniforms must be worn to school on the day of gym class.

Personal Appearance:

• Faded or worn uniforms need to be repaired or replaced.
• Girls may wear post type earrings, one earring per ear. 
• Boys are not permitted to wear earrings.
• Boys should be clean shaven.
• Jewelry should be limited to one watch, one ring, and a simple pendant on a narrow gold or silver chain. No rubber band jewelry. Bracelets are not permitted.  
• No cosmetics, lashes, lip gloss, colored Chapstick, colored nail polish, or artificial nails may be worn.  Body sprays or tattoos are not permitted. 

Hair Style:

• All students – hair should be neat with bangs above the eyebrows. 
• Outlandish hairstyles/colors are not permitted; natural hair color is expected.
• Boys’ hair should be above and not touch the shirt collar and trimmed around the ears.
• Appropriateness of hairstyle or color will be determined by the administration.  Students will be given a warning within one week to make needed changes.
• Hair Bands - must be plain and simple, without ornaments. Simple hair accessories that match the uniform are acceptable.  Hair scarves are not acceptable.

Proper Uniform Attire requirements also includes:

• All blouses and shirts must be tucked in – not rolled or folded.
• Opaque, solid blue tights - not stockings or nylons.
• No Fad socks permitted unless announced for a School Spirit Day
• Plain white undershirts may be worn under a boy’s/girl’s shirts.
• Knee socks must be pulled up to the knee. Shoes must be properly laced and tied and completely cover the foot (no folded down backs)
• Head coverings are not permitted to be worn with the uniform

Dress-Down Guidelines for Pre-K through 8th 

• Pants:  Appropriate fitting, no skin-tight jeans or slacks which should be neat and without holes. Yoga or pajama pants and biker shorts are not acceptable. Leggings are not acceptable unless covered by appropriate length (mid-thigh) top, skirt, or dress. (Oversized Tee-shirts will be provided for those who choose to disregard this regulation).
• Skirts/Skorts must be less than 3 inches above the knee. 
• Shirts must have sleeves and may not have any inappropriate logos, pictures, or symbols.  No tank tops, spaghetti straps, bare midriff, or bare shoulder tops may be worn.
• Girls may wear nail polish, but it must be removed when wearing the uniform the next day.
• Junior high girls may wear light make-up (parent permitting), but must remove it for the next day.

For Safety Reasons:

• No dangling earrings
• No platform shoes, crocs, slides, flip flops, sandals, clogs/mules, or slippers.

Parents will be notified to bring a change of clothes if a student comes to school dressed inappropriately. 

These guidelines also apply to after school-sponsored functions, such as school dances. Students who repeatedly demonstrate disregard for the Dress Code are liable to receive disciplinary action.

 
 Used Uniforms

Used uniforms are also available in the uniform closet; open during the school day. Everyone is welcome to check out our supply and take whatever can be used.
